I am a firm believer that if you remove clutter you remove overwhelm.

Decluttering is especially important for your task and to do list. In this post, I want to dig deeper into the how to declutter and further organize. Organizing and keeping a minimalism mindset will help you from being a clutterbug.

Calendar management is very close to my heart. I have loved planning since I was a kid, when I would always pride myself on my agendas and the intricate details I would put into planning and color-coding my tasks. I loved my agenda, and I loved the new year when I could get a brand new one and start the process again.

Fast forward 20 years, and I love my digital calendar just as much, if not more! It offers more options that increase my productivity, such as sharing it with others, which has been a serious game changer.

You may not think that calendar management belongs on a blog about decluttering and organizing, but I know that if your calendar is cluttered or inefficiently used, you are probably not planning your time wisely. And it’s not only about calendars, but about your schedule as well. Even with the best of intentions, you can end up with an overwhelmingly cluttered schedule.

Your time certainly shouldn’t be cluttered, because then you’re unable to properly focus on tasks and it’s likely to take you twice as long to get them done.

Here are my top tips for time management:

1.Clarify the 80 percent rule.

Your time should be spent on revenue-generating activities for your business or the company you work for. Review where you spend your time, and make sure that at least 80 percent is devoted to this; otherwise, declutter a few things by delegating, outsourcing, automating, or finding another way to eliminate tasks that don’t generate revenue.

2.Shorten your meetings

This one has literally changed my life. I never schedule hour-long meetings; rather, I ensure that they are 45 minutes or less. This strategy immediately frees up time in your calendar and your life. Plus, it makes you and all the people you have meetings with more efficient. Shorter meetings force people to come better prepared and stick to the agenda.

3.Eliminate unnecessary commitments.

This one really has to do with dedicating your valuable time to the most important revenue-generating activities in your business and to the activities that bring you the most personal joy in your non-work hours.
