It's My Birthday So Ask Me Anything!
For this blog post in video form, please head to my YouTube channel or check the bottom of this post.
Lately, I’ve been feeling like having a little fun and shaking things up. So, I am continuing on this fun theme with a post answering my most-asked questions. I know you guys are curious about me, but on a more serious note, I also want to be as transparent as possible about my life. If I help even one person get more organized or be more efficient, then I am happy!
Sometimes. I get interesting business-related questions and, equally as often, I get asked about my personal life. I want to help as many people as I can to get organized, and I try to always focus on that, but I’m also happy to answer the other questions I’ve received, too.
Here we go!
How Do yoU Make Money?
I have multiple streams of income, and I consistently work hard to add value to each and everyone of them. When I worked in the corporate world, I had one large, constant stream of income. Now as an entrepreneur, I am totally in charge of my income goals, and no one will give me raises but myself.
I’ve had to work on my relationship with money over the past few years. I’ve grown to a place where I feel positive about money because it allows me to share and give back. I want to support other businesses, continue to invest in myself with education and coaches, and of course employ a team to grow my brand so I can help others enjoy fulfilling and organized lives. We all deserve to make money, to be paid fairly, and to have the opportunity to purchase what will add value to our lives.
To be specific, I make money from writing and selling books, speaking, my courses, teaching, rental properties, and consulting projects.
Are You a Travel Blogger?
I am not a travel blogger, although I have travelled extensively for my previous careers. In my last corporate job, I was able to visit Indonesia, Mexico City, Columbia, Brazil, Singapore, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Germany and many more.
Since I have spent so much of my life in transit, I love sharing packing tips. I think that packing the key to a smooth, stress-free trip. Check out the link in my bio to browse my must-have travel items, like packing cubes and digital luggage scales.
Why Do You Need To Hire PEople?
If I had never hired people, my brand and business would not be where they are today.
It takes an entire team for my brand to grow and, by extension, for me to reach my fullest potential. I am no stranger to managing people—at one point in my career, I managed a concrete pipe plant in Edmonton with a staff of over 60 people. However, managing your own personal business and brand is much different, especially with a virtual and global team!
Many people ask me how you know you have to hire people, and how you can afford it. My answer is simple: I need help, so I can’t afford NOT to hire a team.
Know your strengths - you may be good at many things, but you are probably not so good at others. Your weak points are where you should look to hire professionals. Accept that you will need help in your entrepreneurial journey and allow yourself to be supported.
Are You Married?
Not yet! For now, I’m in a super relationship.
How can you be a minimalist, but love shopping?
To me, minimalism means taking a hard look at how the items I already own impact me on a daily basis and culling them to the minimum. It also means being more conscious and mindful of my purchases.
