A #1 Clutter trap: Entryways & Mudrooms

When assisting clients, I find that these areas can be major clutter traps, and ones that always seem to pass below the radar. The entryway is where we enter the house, and it’s so easy to leave items without giving them a proper home. It’s a tempting place to stow-and-go when you’re in a hurry, racing to the next meeting or appointment. The key to keeping your entryway and mudrooms clutter-free is to ensure that everything and everyone has a designated space. By “everyone,” I don’t mean you have to have a physical place for a human to reside, but you do need a spot for each person’s essential entryway stuff. This can include hooks for backpacks and jackets, dishes for keys, bins for hats, and so on. Take the time to determine what is needed, and then create specific spots for those items.

Don’t go it alone
