How to Save Time on Social Media

Getting digitally organized can help you stop scrolling!

We’re all a little guilty of indulging in a scroll hole from time to time. One minute you’re opening your phone to look for something you saved on Pinterest, and the next you’re looking a photos from some stranger’s family vacation to Italy in 2011. How did we get here?! It’s easy to get lost online when you’re not digitally organized. Here are three ways to save time on social media by being digitally organized on your phone.

Set timers

You’ve heard me talk before about time blocking, but have you considered doing the same for social media? Create a rule where you’re only allowed to be on social apps (including Pinterest!) for no more than 10 minutes. To prevent myself from scrolling endlessly when I go to pick up my phone for a quick look for something I will immediately set the timer on my phone for ten minutes FIRST. This way I can’t possibly lose track of time no matter where I end up!

Create social media time

We all randomly pick up our phone during the day to quickly look something up or check our calendars as we interact with other people during the day. But the entertainment part of social media is what gets me! To make sure I have my fun time when I want it I schedule in on my digital calendar some time to simply scroll for fun! This is often times in the evening when I’m relaxing with a glass of wine and winding down so I don’t feel as if I’m taking away time from something that needs to urgently be accomplished during the day.

Organize your folders

Instagram and Pinterest have these amazing features where you can put posts you like in folders. Make sure you’re saving time scrolling by creating folders for topics you frequently find yourself saving posts or pins for. Some of mine are places I want to travel, outfits I love, books or podcasts I want to read or recipes that look delicious to try!
